Terms and Conditions

Version 1.1 · Last updated 14 October 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern the use of the finstory service by the company that subscribes to it (“Customer”, “you”) and by the people it gives access. They are a binding agreement between Customer and Finstory, Inc. (“finstory”, “we”, “us”). Customer accepts them by subscribing, for example through our checkout, by signing an order that refers to them, or by using the service. If you accept them for a company, you confirm that you may bind that company. If Customer and finstory have signed a separate agreement, that agreement prevails where it differs from these Terms.

1. The service

finstory is software for finance teams. It connects to your ERP, your accounting system (such as QuickBooks Online) or spreadsheets, keeps your actuals, budgets and forecasts in one governed model, and turns them into reports and board stories. The service includes the finstory app at app.finstory.ai, the finstory connector for Claude, the finstory plugin for Claude, onboarding and support. We keep improving finstory, so features may change over time.

2. Accounts and access

Customer’s administrators invite users and give each one a role, which sets what they can see and change. Customer is responsible for its users, for keeping their logins secure and for everything done with them. Tell us at support@finstory.ai straight away if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. Use of the service

You agree to:

  • provide accurate company and contact information;
  • load only data you are authorized to share;
  • use the service for your company’s own business purposes.

You agree not to:

  • use the service in breach of any law or of anyone’s rights;
  • access, or try to access, other customers’ data or accounts, or get around the service’s security, except for good-faith security research that follows our rules for reporting a vulnerability;
  • test the service with denial-of-service attacks, overload it or disrupt it;
  • upload malware, or use the service to send spam;
  • copy, reverse engineer or resell the service, or give access to it to anyone outside your company, except where the law allows it or where you publish a story to people you choose, such as your board.

4. Use through AI assistants such as Claude

You can use finstory through AI assistants such as Claude, with the finstory connector. The assistant then acts as the signed-in user, with that user’s finstory role, in the workspace the user approved.

The AI assistant is a third-party service that you use under your own agreement with its provider; for Claude, that is Anthropic. finstory is not responsible for the assistant, or for how its provider handles your data. Results that finstory returns become part of your conversation with the assistant, as explained in our Privacy Policy.

You choose the assistant’s settings, including which actions it may take without asking you. Changes that an assistant makes on a user’s instructions count as changes made by that user. Reports and stories that an assistant creates or changes are saved in Customer’s workspace, and a new report stays an unpublished draft until a power user or admin publishes it.

5. AI output

finstory drafts reports and narratives with AI, from your own data. AI output can be incomplete or wrong. Review it before you share it or rely on it. finstory and its output are not investment, tax, legal or accounting advice, and do not replace your own professional judgement.

6. Your data

Customer owns its data: everything it loads into finstory, and all results and insights derived solely from that data (“customer data”).

Customer lets finstory host, process and use customer data only to provide, secure and support the service for Customer, as described in our Privacy Policy. finstory does not use customer data for marketing, demonstrations or any purpose outside Customer’s account, and does not use it to train AI models.

You can export your reports and stories at any time while you subscribe, and for up to 30 days after the subscription ends (see section 12).

7. Confidentiality

Each party keeps the other party’s confidential information confidential, and uses it only for this agreement. Customer data is Customer’s confidential information. Where the parties have signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), it continues to apply.

8. Intellectual property

The finstory software, designs, templates and know-how, and any improvements to them, remain the exclusive property of Finstory, Inc. Customer retains full ownership of customer data, as set out in section 6. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them freely.

9. Subscription and fees

Customer pays the fees of the plan it chose, in advance, through our payment provider or as agreed in an order. Monthly plans can be cancelled at any time and run to the end of the month that has been paid for. Annual plans run for the full year and can be cancelled before they renew. Payments already made are not refunded. Fees do not include taxes, unless stated otherwise.

Free trials. finstory may offer a free trial. It costs nothing, ends on the date we show you and does not turn into a paid plan unless Customer subscribes. During a trial the service is provided as is, and finstory may end the trial at any time. If Customer does not subscribe when the trial ends, finstory deletes the trial’s customer data within 30 days, and backups that contain it within 60 days.

10. Support, availability and security

For help, email support@finstory.ai. We aim to reply within one business day.

finstory makes commercially reasonable efforts to keep the service available and stable, but does not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

finstory maintains reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect customer data, including encryption, access control and secure hosting.

11. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Except as expressly stated in these Terms, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.

finstory’s total liability under these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) USD 10,000 or (b) the total fees paid by Customer in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Neither party shall be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

12. Term, termination and data retention

The subscription runs for the term of the plan Customer chose and renews until it is cancelled, as set out in section 9.

Either party may terminate this agreement if the other party materially breaches it and does not fix the breach within ten (10) days of written notice. finstory may suspend access straight away where that is needed to protect the service, other customers or the law.

When the subscription ends, finstory keeps customer data for up to 30 days so that Customer can export it, then deletes it. Backups that contain customer data are purged within 60 days of the end of the subscription, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.

Sections 5 to 8, 11, 12 and 15 continue to apply after the agreement ends.

13. Export controls, sanctions and supported regions

Customer will use the service in line with the export control and sanctions laws of the United States and other countries that apply. Customer confirms that it and its users are not located or ordinarily resident in a country or region under comprehensive United States sanctions, and are not listed on, or owned or controlled by anyone listed on, a United States government list of restricted parties.

finstory is not offered to persons subject to sanctions. The finstory connector and plugin for Claude are not offered in countries or regions where Anthropic does not offer Claude.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We publish each new version here, with its version number and date, and tell Customer about material changes in advance. If Customer keeps using the service after a change takes effect, the new version applies.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Questions about these Terms: email support@finstory.ai, or write to Finstory, Inc., 1445 Woodmont Ln NW #1641, Atlanta, GA 30318, USA.
